Rocky Publications was formed in 2010 with the express purpose of creating colorfully illustrated regional books devoted to nature and the outdoors, initially for North Carolina and Texas. The personnel involved in producing and printing the books have previously done both regional coffee-table books in Florida and nationwide, include best-selling regional titles and award-winning books.
In October 1, 2011, Rocky publications published Texas Birds Illustrated and North Carolina Birds Illustrated. These books are widely available Books-a-Million, Barnes & Noble, on line, and in some gift shops and independent bookstores. On May 1, 2012, Florida Historic Places Illustrated will publish. William Lamar is presently writing a Texas reptiles and amphibians while Curtis Smalling is working on a book concerning the natural places of North Carolina. Publication dates for this new books will be announced when available.
Other titles planned for Texas and North Carolina include a book on canoe and kayak trails, each state’s natural wonders, and a book on reptiles and amphibians.
Although dedicated to regional, coffee table, full-color books on nature and the outdoors, Rocky Publications will take some adventures outside of the scope of its charter.
